Not suitable for those who can't climb stairs. On average, train services every 30 minutes to Reading and Waterloo. Ticket office open Monday to Saturday morning and lunchtime. Decent sized car park though not free. Bit of a gap between train and platform on trains coming from Reading.
Well it definitely feels like a station built in the 80s. Very cheap wooden platforms, no step free access available whatsoever, made insulting since platform 2 towards Reading is partially connected by a ramp and a ticket office only partially open throughout the day. I really wasn't impressed despite the park and ride facilities.
This station has both good and bad features. There is a good amount of parking and the ticket machines are modern and quick, however the platform is rather simple with little shelter should you be waiting a long time. Being only two stops from Reading makes it easy to get both into town and into London.
A modern railway station. Loco hauled passenger trains pass through occasionally!
A curate's egg of a place; only good in parts. The good part is that the SW Trains that stop here are clean (-ish), quiet (electric), and spacious (8 carriages long). Reasonable reliability relative to other UK rail services. The downsides are that the normal service is only 2 trains per hour either way (possibly 3 at morning peak), the ticket office is only open for a brief period in the morning (the station is then unmanned), the single ticket machine is regularly out of service, and there is precious little sheltered waiting space.
